Retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra Takes Charge as First CEO of Ram Temple Trust

Mishra will oversee temple operations, devotee facilities, security coordination and administrative functioning from the Pilgrim Facilitation Centre in Ayodhya

Retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra has taken charge as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day administrative and operational coordination of the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya.

Mishra formally assumed office on September 21 and will be based regularly in Ayodhya. An office for the CEO has been set up at the Pilgrim Facilitation Centre (PFC) within the temple complex, from where he will monitor arrangements for devotees and the functioning of various facilities.

His responsibilities include reviewing arrangements for darshan, the movement of devotees, facilities and security, as well as other operational activities connected with the temple complex. He is also expected to review ongoing work at the site and the arrangements being made for pilgrims.

Mishra’s appointment as the Trust’s first CEO was announced earlier this month. The Trust had selected the retired Air Marshal at a meeting in Ayodhya on September 2, making him the first person to hold the newly created position.

Following his appointment, Mishra had attended a Trust meeting and said he would first spend time understanding his responsibilities and the organisation’s working before formally taking charge.

With his assumption of office, the Trust is now putting greater emphasis on on-site coordination and the review of its administrative arrangements. Mishra has begun meeting members of the temple staff to understand their respective responsibilities and how different functions are being managed within the complex.

The Trust is also strengthening information and assistance facilities for devotees. Help desks and information centres are being further activated to provide visitors with guidance on darshan, entry arrangements, available facilities and other essential information.

Mishra’s regular presence in Ayodhya is expected to bring the Trust’s administrative and operational functions under closer day-to-day review. His remit covers coordination across temple staff and agencies involved in areas such as security, pilgrim facilities, offerings and other services connected with the complex.

The appointment comes as the Ram Temple administration continues to manage large numbers of devotees while expanding and refining facilities within the temple complex. The creation of a dedicated CEO position provides a central administrative point for implementing decisions and coordinating the Trust’s operational responsibilities.

Mishra, who retired from the Indian Air Force in April 2026, previously served as the head of the IAF’s Western Air Command and commanded the formation during Operation Sindoor in May 2025.

His move from senior military command to the administration of the Ram Temple marks a new phase in the Trust’s organisational structure, with the newly created office focused on coordinating the complex’s expanding operational requirements.
