Navi Mumbai airport expands low-cost transport links ahead of winter travel season
NMIA will also have 21 daily Chalo Bus services connecting the airport with Marol in Andheri East, Bandra, Dadar and the World Trade Centre in Colaba.
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is expanding its public transport network ahead of the winter travel season, with new electric bus services, dedicated airport routes, taxis, autorickshaws and a free hourly shuttle linking it with Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will begin e-Shivai electric bus services from NMIA on October 7, offering fares of ₹450 to Pune, ₹210 to Borivali and ₹170 to Dadar East.
Children under 12 and women travelling with a National Common Mobility Card will be eligible for half-fare.

The new services are part of a wider effort by NMIA, operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, to provide cheaper and more varied ground transport options connecting the airport with Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region ahead of the winter schedule, which runs from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027.
The first phase of MSRTC’s e-Shivai network will connect the airport with Dadar, Borivali and Pune. The Dadar service will travel via Sion and Atal Setu, while the Borivali route will serve Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Terminal 1 and Bandra via Atal Setu. Two daily services will operate between Pune and NMIA, with one in the morning and another in the afternoon.
Services to Thane and Nashik are planned to begin by mid-November.
NMIA will also have 21 daily Chalo Bus services connecting the airport with Marol in Andheri East, Bandra, Dadar and the World Trade Centre in Colaba. Additional capacity will be deployed during peak periods to cater for passengers and airport employees.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) is operating seven dedicated airport routes, A1 to A7, connecting Terminal 1 with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Panvel, Khandeshwar and the Airport Project Office. Services between the airport, Belapur and Nerul will run every 15-20 minutes during peak hours, with further connections to Vashi and Panvel planned.
More taxis and autorickshaws
Passengers will have access to Uber Go and Uber Premier, as well as Uber Auto for shorter journeys. Prepaid taxis, prepaid autorickshaws and car rentals will provide additional options.
Bharat Taxi is due to begin operations at NMIA on 10 October with a dedicated fleet of up to 40 vehicles.
The airport will also introduce a complimentary inter-airport shuttle running every hour between NMIA and Mumbai’s existing international airport, CSMIA. The service will be operated jointly by Cityflo, Aarya and Chalo, providing passengers with a direct transfer between the two airports.
Across app-based taxis, car rentals, autorickshaws and buses, NMIA says ground transport capacity is being scaled up to 4,594 vehicles and buses. This includes 3,787 app-based taxis, 184 car rentals, 171 autorickshaws and 547 buses.
The airport is installing dedicated mobility signage and wayfinding systems, alongside on-ground passenger assistance and separate zones for buses, shuttles, arrivals, departures and private vehicles.
