Anthropic introduces Indian rupee pricing for Claude AI
Claude Pro is now priced at ₹2,000 per month per annum, or ₹2,399 per month if billed monthly.
Anthropic has introduced India-specific pricing for its Claude Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant, eliminating dollar-denominated payments, to make the chatbot more accessible in the country.
The company has priced Claude Pro at ₹2,000 per month with annual billing, or ₹2,399 per month if billed monthly. It has also introduced two Claude Max tiers priced at ₹11,999 and ₹23,999 per month.
Businesses can subscribe to the Claude Team plan from ₹2,399 rupees per user per month on annual billing, while the Premium Team tier is priced at ₹11,999 per user per month. All prices include Goods and Services Tax (GST), Anthropic said on its website.
The pricing update is intended to make the chatbot more accessible to Indian users by eliminating the need for dollar-denominated payments and reducing friction associated with international transactions.
While local pricing has begun to appear for some users on the website and mobile apps, Anthropic has yet to enable payments via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Users still need to pay by card or through Apple and Google’s app store billing systems.
Anthropic said further details on the rollout, including timelines for making the rupee pricing available to all users across its plans, would be shared in due course. The company said it would continue to monitor adoption trends in India as it refines its regional strategy.

The Big Picture
India has emerged as the second-largest market for Anthropic after the US, accounting for 5.8 per cent of Claude’s worldwide user base. Earlier this year, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dario Amodei said Anthropic’s revenue run rate in India had doubled in four months.
The company said India’s large developer community and growing technology workers’ base had made it a priority market, alongside the US, as it looks to expand its commercial footprint globally.
In February, the company opened its first office in Bengaluru and appointed former Microsoft India Managing Director Irina Ghose to lead the business. Anthropic has also partnered with fintech firm Razorpay, and Information Technology services firms Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services to scale enterprise AI deployments.
This expansion faced a setback in June when Anthropic suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models for non-US entities. Later, the restriction on Fable 5 was lifted, even though that of Mythos 5 remains limited.
The move comes at a time when the competition in the AI assistant market is intensifying with OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and Perplexity have been increasing presence through new products, partnerships and rollout of enterprise suites.
